Who wouldn't be fond of hazelnuts? These nuts are great in confectionery and much more! Did you know that hazelnut vegetable oil is excellent for the skin, especially for oily and combination skin? Today we will show you how to peel hazelnuts in a very easy way. Some people buy them already peeled. However, peeling the hazelnuts at home allows you to save a lot of money when buying. Make sure you watch our video at the end of the post, where we show you how to do it step-by-step.
To Remove The Bark
- A nutcracker or a garlic press can be used. The garlic press is very easy to use as it keeps the hazelnuts in place without letting them pop out and disappear somewhere in the kitchen!
- The garlic press should be placed on a hard surface and tapped lightly so that it only breaks the bark and not the hazelnut.
To Remove The Skin
- After removing the bark, place the hazelnuts on a baking tray and separate them well.
- Roast at 180ºC for 10 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and place the hazelnuts on a cloth.
- Then just rub them and the hazelnuts' skin will start to come out.
This is the method we consider the most efficient to remove the hazelnut skin. Some people also put the hazelnuts in boiling water with baking soda for 3 minutes. We've tried it and didn't like the result, because not only did the hazelnuts get kind of cooked but also the skin didn't come out easily.
And that's it! Happy eating!
