At home, we are all in favour of doing things with our own hands instead of buying them already done. This time we tried granola. There are many breakfast cereals that contain granola, but we have no doubt that homemade is healthier.
Granola is a combination of various ingredients, but the best thing about it is that the recipe is flexible. You can use as many ingredients as you like according to your personal taste. Granola is great with yogurt, milk or eat as a snack.
Basically, granola is made of dry and liquid ingredients. Here are some you can use:
The recipe we've done is very simple, for we do not love many of these ingredients. Here's granola recipe the way we do it at home:
Dry Ingredients
100g Oat flakes
100g Barley flakes
100g Rye flakes
40g Flax seeds
40g Sesame seeds
40g Sunflower seeds
20g Poppy seeds
40g Flax seeds
40g Sesame seeds
40g Sunflower seeds
20g Poppy seeds
50g Nuts
1 tbsp Cinnamon
Liquid Ingredients
1 tbsp Coconut Oil
80g Honey
We didn't use sugar nor salt.
Method
Preheat oven to 180ºC. Meanwhile, place dry ingredients in a deep bowl and mix. On low heat combine honey and coconut oil. Mix liquid and dry ingredients. Spread the mixture evenly on a baking tray. Place it in the oven for 30 minutes. Stir every 10 minutes so it won't burn the flakes. At this point, the kitchen smells like heaven! Granola should be ready when it turns golden brown. Let it cool and store...or eat!
